ARIPO IP Awareness Campaign

01 Jan 31 Dec

Although the African Regional Intellectual Property Office (ARIPO) has existed since 1976, not many citizens from its 22 member states understand its core business and the benefit of filing through the ARIPO system. This can be attributed to the limited awareness of the system’s intellectual property (IP) and its benefits.

This activity aimed to provide technical support to the ARIPO’s documentation and communication department. It focused on creating awareness and interest in different sectors of society and promote the importance and value of IP. Furthermore, it enhanced the capacities of the business sector, particularly small and medium enterprises, to draw benefits from the IP system and generate more value from their products.

Best practices and lessons learned on the registration of IPs were shared with the beneficiaries through various platforms. The activity also provided information on the benefits of IP registration.

This Activity will continue in AWP3.
