Legal and technical assistance to the RECs for the Phase II negotiations on IPR

Under its first component 'Promote International Agreements in the Area of IPR and AfCFTA Negotiations', AfrIPI has supported the drafting of an IP protocol as part of Phase II negotiations of the AfCFTA which is expected to be adopted by AU Member States by the end of December 2022. In this regard, from May 18 to 20, 2022, AfrIPI supported the organisation of a regional workshop on the role of intellectual property (IP) in market integration in Central Africa and on the strategic importance of the AfCFTA protocol on intellectual property.
