Support for the setup of innovation platforms in OAPI pilot countries

An effective and strategic use of intellectual property requires the promotion of IP protection of inventions and technological innovations within universities, institutes and research centres, and the linkage to the business environment to guarantee the effective exploitation of research results by enterprises.

In 2022, AfrIPI supported the OAPI in kick-starting a platform in each of its 17 Member States that united strategic participants from both sectors in an effort to provide innovative solutions to productive sector challenges and to advance the quality/relevance of output.

In 2023, AfrIPI, together with the OAPI, the EPO and WIPO, will organise a regional workshop to select three projects to be supported in 2024, during the Salon Africain de l’Invention et de l’Innovation Technologique.
