Create an African SME learning tool

Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are important drivers of growth in economies across Sub-Saharan Africa, accounting for up to 90 % of all businesses in these markets. Intellectual property represents a valuable tool for SMEs to remain competitive on the global market.

AfrIPI will support African SMEs by developing a SME learning tool. This tool will provide a user-friendly platform allowing for a one-stop learning and information experience on IP. It will help African SMEs in understanding, accessing, using, and exploiting the IP system in the most beneficial way to them. The tool will aim at raising awareness on the routes available for the protection and enforcement of various IPRs. It is also expected to contribute to the establishment of a dynamic platform owned and further built on by African SME ecosystem stakeholders.
