Regional Conference for OAPI MS on the Status of the Protection and Use of African Medicinal Inventions

From 2 to 4 November 2022, in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, AfrIPI, in collaboration with the OAPI, organised a regional conference on the protection and exploitation of African medicinal inventions for OAPI member states. During the conference participants reviewed the status of strategies put in place in terms of research, intellectual property rights protection, and valorisation of research results in order to seek appropriate solution approaches for the availability and accessibility of quality medicines in Africa.

This conference is a follow-up to the workshop to exchange best practices and identify actions on counterfeiting and piracy in specific industry sectors (pharmaceuticals) organised from 27-29 September 2021 in Yaoundé, Cameroon, in order to promote a local pharmaceutical industry as one of the alternatives for combating counterfeit medicines.
