AfrIPI Drives IP Awareness at EU-Ghana Business Forum
The African Intellectual Property and Innovation Project (AfrIPI) team, headed by Deputy Project Leader Carlos Lleo, participated in the recent EU-Ghana Business Forum. Their focus was on collaborating with stakeholders to discuss the significance of intellectual property (IP) in business operations.
The team interacted with more than 40 attendees, primarily Ghanaian small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) owners. They covered topics such as trade marks and copyrights, reflecting an increased awareness of IP's technical aspects. A presentation on the Africa IP SME Helpdesk provided attendees with valuable tools and resources.
The AfrIPI also explored potential collaborations with European Union (EU) stakeholders, including the Team Europe initiative, which supports EU businesses entering the Ghanaian market. During the agribusiness panel discussion, AfrIPI highlighted their support for the African Union's Geographical Indications (GI) strategy, focusing on protecting innovations developed by African businesses.
