Uganda joins DESIGNview

As of Monday 15 December 2025, the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has made its industrial design data available in the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) DESIGNview search tool.

With the addition of more than 1 200 industrial designs from the URSB, DESIGNview now provides information and access to over 24 million industrial designs from 76 participating offices. Since its launch on 19 November 2012, DESIGNview has been used for 10,9 million searches from users worldwide, with the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom being among the most frequent visitors.

The EUIPO has long been a pioneer in providing free, high-quality data to promote market openness and transparency. The integration of URSB’s design data into DESIGNview is a tangible result of the EUIPO’s ongoing collaboration efforts in Africa, building strategic alliances with IP offices to improve data access. This initiative has been further supported by the EU-funded IP cooperation project ‘AfrIPI’.
