Exchange of anti-counterfeiting best practices for Portuguese-speaking African Countries in Angola
Luanda, Angola
The EUIPO, within the framework of AfrIPI and in partnership with the Portuguese Institute of Industrial Property Office (INPI, Portugal) and the intellectual property institutions of Angola and Mozambique, will deliver hybrid technical training in Luanda. This training aims to strengthen anti-counterfeiting frameworks across Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP).
Following the success of the 2024 training in Cabo Verde, where a roadmap was created for establishing an anti-counterfeiting group (GAC), this training now extends to other PALOP countries. Angola and Mozambique have been prioritised due to their institutional readiness to establish similar GACs.
The training will draw on the expertise of the EUIPO Observatory, INPI Portugal, INTERPOL and AFRIPOL. It aims to foster cross-border cooperation and technical information sharing through virtual communities of experts for collaboration. These communities are similar to those created under the EUIPO’s Strategic Plan SP2030, which aims to combat increasingly sophisticated counterfeit networks.
