‘Women in IP’ conference for ARIPO Member States

The activity seeks to raise awareness among women about the significance of intellectual property (IP) in building careers and protecting businesses.

Objectives:

-Increasing awareness of the importance and benefits of IP for women in fostering Innovation and business in the ARIPO region;

-Demystifying of IP by showcasing the success stories of other women involved in IP;

-Strengthening technical awareness of effective policymaking to build, support and promote the involvement of women in IP;

-Creating a network of women in IP to provide mentorship to other women involved in IP, resulting in the creation of a strong base of IP-astute women in the ARIPO region and in Africa more generally;

-Creating a roadmap to increase the presence and influence of women in leadership positions in the IP field in Africa.
