Workshop to exchange best practices and identify actions on counterfeiting and piracy in specific industry sectors (pharmaceuticals) (as of Nov 2020)

African countries are a key destination for counterfeit goods such as pharmaceuticals, with the hazards and damage that this pose to consumers. AfrIPI will organize a workshop to raise awareness among the African IPR enforcement authorities and other IPR enforcement officials on IPR infringement in the pharmaceutical industry. The activity will provide a platform to exchange best practices, as well as discuss the trends and continuing challenges faced by enforcement authorities across African countries. This will allow for establishing networks among and between the participating enforcement authorities in order to support and facilitate coordination on IPR enforcement. The workshop will also serve as an opportunity for EU IPR enforcement experts to establish working relations with the national customs and IPR enforcement authorities of the target countries.
