Study visit Support the registration at EU level of GIs for Kilichi du Niger

A study tour with the Association IGP Viande Séchée du Valais to support the registration of Kilichi du Niger at the European Union level will be held from 15 to 18 May 2023 in Geneva - Switzerland.

The objectives of this study tour are to:

• Support the positioning strategy of the Kilichi of Niger on the international markets, especially the European market;

• Prepare Kilichi du Niger for its registration as a PGI at the European Union level according to the rules of Regulation 1151/2012;

• Answer questions identified/point of attention by the Niger national expert which will essentially concern the questions of official controls: both related to the sanitary quality of the product and to the respect of the specifications;

• Visit certified Valais dried meat companies and production sites, in particular one or more packing centres;

• Identify any lessons learned in the management of the sector at regional and national level that could inspire the Kilichi actors in Niger;
