AfrIPI participates in the OAPI 62 Administrative Council in Douala (Cameroon)
On 8 October, in Douala (Cameroon), the EUIPO & AfrIPI took part in the 62nd session of the Administrative Council of the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI). The session featured exchanges on the different challenges facing intellectual property. Several Government Ministers from the OAPI Member States also attended. The event included a discussion on the challenges of IP linked to the industrial politics of the African states.
OAPI, together with ARIPO and the African Union, plays a central role in the implementation of the AfrIPI project, together with the European Commission and partners such as EPO and WIPO.
Their activities include the promotion of international treaties in the framework of the AfCFTA, the reinforcement of IP at regional and national level including providing support to SMEs and assisting the African Union in its continental strategy on Geographical Indications.
Next year, AfrIPI will be starting its third Annual Work Plan in coordination with its partners.
