Technical workshop for North African countries and Türkiye

As a result of EUIPO strengthening relationship with the Egyptian Trademarks and Industrial Designs Office (TIDO), a technical workshop on tools and practices took place from 7 to 9 February 2023 in Cairo, Egypt, for the North Africa region and Türkiye.

As well as TIDO, the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property and the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office participated in the workshop. It aimed to promote the European Union Intellectual Property Network’s tools and practices, as well as define new joint milestones.

The workshop was an excellent opportunity for experts from the different IP offices to exchange information, knowledge and experience directly with the European Union Intellectual Property Office. Moreover, the attendees were updated on the latest trends in digital innovation and the most recent developments in search tools. The workshop also provided participants with information on geographical indications like GIView, the Observatory’s work and the seconded national expert programme.

On the workshop’s side lines, a technical meeting took place with TIDO officials to discuss work on Egypt’s national trade mark and design guidelines under the AfrIPI project. This will be further developed during the 2023 AfrIPI annual programme.
