Support for the OAPI training program for trade marks and design examiners and IP representatives on substantive examination

OAPI has been examining trade mark and industrial design applications on substance since January 2022. Before being granted, applications for registration in the OAPI region must now be published.

The initial phase of this activity will be an in-person training session at the OAPI headquarters in September 2023. The session is intended for management staff, examiners of trade marks and industrial designs, opposition examiners, and the personnel of the IT department. In October 2023, six trade mark, industrial design, and opposition examiners will travel to Spain for a 1-week study visit as part of the second phase of the training. This will allow them to become familiar with the EUIPO’s examination methods and apply their newfound knowledge in practice.
