OAPI Masters’ students receive online lectures on Intellectual Property from EUIPO experts
Students enrolled in the 2024/2025 Academic Masters’ Programme in Intellectual Property at the University of Yaoundé II and the Denis Ekani Academy of Intellectual Property (APIDE) of the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) have received online lectures from experts of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
The comprehensive lectures were conducted on the 6-7 May 2024 by three EUIPO experts with the aim to strengthen intellectual property knowledge and skills, and to ensure effective and efficient understanding of intellectual property administration and legislative frameworks. The coursework focused on: the Madrid Protocol; the Hague Agreement; understanding IP Tools (TM view + TM Class), and an analysis of the likelihood of confusion in opposition proceedings.
The OAPI Master’s Programme is jointly delivered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the OAPI and is sponsored by the Government of Japan through the Japanese Patent Office. It encompasses face-to-face lectures, online teaching, case studies, research work, internships, seminars, conferences, dissertations and a final examination before the course completion.
The Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation in Africa (AfrIPI) project is contributing to this activity by providing EUIPO experts for the lectures in the OAPI and the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) regions.
