AfrIPI Partnered with KIPI and ARIPO to Deliver High-Level IP Training for African Enforcement Officials
From 28 to 30 May 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya, the AfrIPI project partnered with the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) and the Kenya Industrial Property Institute to deliver a high-level training programme on intellectual property (IP) enforcement for ARIPO Member States.
The three-day intensive programme brought together IP professionals, government officials and law enforcement personnel from across Africa. The agenda covered various critical topics, including the latest international legal frameworks for IP rights enforcement, regional approaches to combatting piracy and counterfeiting, and leveraging technology for effective enforcement in the digital age.
The training equipped enforcement officials with the necessary skills and knowledge to combat IP infringement; this will foster a vibrant innovation ecosystem across Africa. It also emphasised the importance of regional cooperation in strengthening IP rights enforcement efforts.
